Through my daughters’ eyes: "Why are you crying, mommy?"
by Rachel Dykoski • 11/14/08 • My daughters sat on my lap as the Obamas took the stage to thousands cheering in Grant Park.
Most people think my dogged passion for democracy, warts and all for the past ten months was ego-tripping. Myself included. I was eight months pregnant with my first child when Bush v. Gore took place. Heck, I walked through a snowstorm, uphill and down again to vote in 2000. I listened to the news 24/7 while I nested and made meals for the freezer, though I knew we wouldn’t eat them.

by Charlie Quimby, Growth & Justice • 11/12/08 • Warmed-over, renamed “Green JOBZ” won’t do the job for green economy.

KSTP is HOT!
by Rachel Dykoski • 11/8/08 • The day before the biggest elections of our lives, I had the chance at greatness. Scratch that, a new hotness: I could be seen by thousands of people and had the potential to help hundreds by manning the phones at KSTP during the morning and mid morning news programs representing the League of Women Voters of Minnesota. As my editor can attest, my timing isn’t the best, so I hopped on at 9:00 a.m. instead of insane o’clock. Channel 5 often runs a hot line during those peak times when people need information.
Obama style
by Hannah Schoenecker • 11/7/08 • Looking at the style-setting Obama women:
Late Tuesday night, the United States made history as it elected the first African-American president. Already Barack Obama has made history. And right by his side are his wife Michelle and two lovely daughters, Malia and Sasha.
Magazines and newspapers are already looking at the possibility of the Obama women becoming fashion trend-setters, and with good reason. Let’s look at Michelle’s dress from election night’s celebration in Grant Park.
Broken promises
by Charley Underwood • 10/24/08 • One year later, it’s time to compare the reality of the RNC with the pledges made by Assistant St. Paul Police Chief Matt Bostrom on October 23, 2007.
On October 23, 2007, the Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers and the University of St Thomas Justice and Peace Department invited the St Paul police to discuss the upcoming Republican National Convention. It is absolutely amazing to look back on the promises made and compare them to what actually happened.
